College for Adults Application Instructions

We welcome your application to enroll in a bachelor's, associate, or certificate program in St. Kate鈥檚 College for Adults. Follow the instructions below to get started. If you have questions along the way, don鈥檛 hesitate to contact our admission counselors. They鈥檙e here to help!

When to apply

For most programs, apply anytime and receive an admission decision within 1-2 weeks. To start in ...

  • Fall 2025: Apply by Aug. 4 to begin classes the week of Aug. 25
  • Spring 2026: Apply by Dec. 15 to begin classes the week of Jan. 12
  • Summer 2026: Dates TBD

Community Health Worker: Students may only start in the Fall. Radiation Therapy: Students may only start in the Fall. Pre-Radiography: Applications are now being accepted to start in Spring 2026; Fall 2025 admissions are closed.


What you'll need to submit

  1. For "application type," select "Undergraduate (Bachelor鈥檚 and Associate Degrees) 25."
  2. Official college/university transcripts (if you've attended college previously), sent directly from all institutions you've attended to St. Kate's.

You may also be required to submit:

  • Official high school transcript or GED record, if you have completed fewer than 12 transferable college credits.
  • A course-by-course credential evaluation, if you have completed courses, credentials, or degrees outside of the U.S., from , , or other .
  • Explanatory statement, if your cumulative GPA is below 2.0 (on a 4.0 scale). In the personal statement section on the application, tell us: What challenges affected your ability to do well previously? How have things changed? How do you plan to fit school into your life now? Do you have the support you need to succeed?
  • Language assessment scores, if English is not your native language, from the with a minimum score of 61 (the University TOEFL code is 6105); with a minimum score of 6.0; or the with a minimum score of 85.A
  • Additional information (updated transcripts, admission essay, interview, etc.) as needed, if requested by the admission committee.

International students

Students who are not U.S. citizens or residents may enroll in CFA onine programs. College for Adults students are not eligible for F-1 or other student visas.

The nursing bachelor鈥檚 program is open to individuals with no previous nursing education, or for current CNAs or LPNs.

The program is offered in a hybrid format, with both online and in-person classes that meet on our St. Paul campus. For women interested in a daytime, fully campus-based program (or for international women seeking F-1/visa-eligible enrollment) please review the Nursing program in our College for Women.

Students are admitted to the University on a pre-Nursing track to begin prerequisite and liberal arts courses in the fall, spring or summer terms. After enrollment, a separate application is required to be admitted into the Nursing major sequence; students will work with their academic advisor to complete the major application process. Please note that admission as a pre-Nursing student does not guarantee progression into the Nursing major.

The Certificate program is offered in a fully online format and can be completed in 6-9 months, depending on the starting term. Students may begin the program in the Spring or Fall semesters (a summer start is not available).

The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) associate degree is open to all students; no previous coursework or credential is required. The OTA courses are offered in a fully online format. In-person skills labs are completed at in the following states: California, Minnesota, Texas, Virginia.

Students are admitted to the University on a pre-OTA track to begin prerequisite and liberal arts courses in the fall, winter or summer terms. After enrollment, a separate application is required to be admitted into the OTA major sequence; students will work with their academic advisor to complete the major application process. Please note that admission as a pre-OTA student does not guarantee progression into the OTA major sequence.

Applications must be submitted within the following cycles for enrollment:

Summer 2025: Nov 29 鈥 April 3; classes begin May 5

Fall 2025: April 4 鈥 July 31; classes begin August 2025

Winter 2026: Aug 1 鈥 Nov 28; classes begin January 2026

Completed applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, and candidates usually receive an admission decision within 2-3 weeks.

The Early Childhood Education associate degree program is open to all students; no previous coursework or credential is required.

The Early Childhood Education undergraduate options include bachelor鈥檚 degree and certificate plans of study. Some options have specific requirements for eligibility (see below for more information).

The Early Childhood Education courses are offered in a fully online format. Student teaching experiences are completed in-person at a school in or near your community. Licensure students who do not hold a Montessori credential also complete a portion of their methods courses in person during summers on our St. Paul campus.

The Montessori Educator options are for currently credentialed Montessori educators who are interested in completing a bachelor鈥檚 degree. Select one of the following:

  • ECE Bachelor鈥檚 Degree Completion with Licensure for Montessori Educators (to be eligible for a MN license to teach children from birth to eight years old)
  • ECE Degree Completion for Montessori Educators (no licensure component included)

(Montessori certificate-only option)

Select Early Childhood Montessori Certificate for individuals who are interested in completing an AMS-accredited undergraduate certificate to become a credentialed Montessori educator.

(Pre-Primary endorsement option)

Select Pre-Primary Endorsement Certificate for Licensed Educators for currently licensed MN K-6 or 1-6 educators (please note this option begins in the Fall term only).

The Liberal Studies programs offer associate and bachelor鈥檚 degree options. Courses are offered in a fully online format. Both options are open to all students; no previous coursework or credential is required. However, it is recommended that students with:

  • no previous college credit should enroll in the associate degree option. 
  • a small number of college credits should consult with an admission counselor to review whether a different major option would better meet their goals.
  • a large number of college credits should consult with an admission counselor prior to application, to create a liberal studies plan of study that will meet their goals.

The RN-BSN program is open to individuals who are current registered nurses (RNs) who wish to complete a bachelor鈥檚 degree.

The program is offered in a fully online format. One course includes some face-to-face clinical practice experiences; students work with faculty to identify locations in their community.

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) associate degree is offered in a hybrid format, combining online and in-person classroom and lab experiences on our St. Paul campus. In-person clinical training sites are located across the Twin Cities metro area.

The Radiation Therapy 2nd bachelor鈥檚 degree program is open to individuals who have previously completed a bachelor鈥檚 degree in any major other than Radiography.

The Radiation Therapy courses are offered in an online format (both synchronous and asynchronous); in-person clinical training sites are located across the Twin Cities metro area.

Students begin the program in the Fall semester. Applications must be completed within the Radiation Therapy enrollment cycle:

Fall 2025: October 1, 2024 鈥 April 1, 2025

Students must have all prerequisite courses completed or in progress by the April 1 application deadline. An unofficial transcript must be provided to document any in-progress courses, which must be completed no later than the Spring semester prior to enrollment. Prerequisite courses include:

  • BIOL 2400: General Anatomy and Physiology (4 credits)
  • INDI 2220: Medical Terminology (2 credits) or鈥 IPE 1030: Healthcare Teams Foundations and Medical Terminology (2 credits)
  • PHIL 3400: Biomedical Ethics (or Ethics) (4 credits)
  • PSYC 1000: General Psychology (4 credits)
  • Select one of the following (4 credits):
    • College Algebra
    • MATH 1090: Precalculus
    • MATH 1130: Calculus I
    • STAT 1090: Statistical Analysis (or other approved statistics course)

Use the online or contact your admission counselor to determine if a specific course you have taken (or plan to take) will fulfill the prerequisite requirement.

In addition to the application form and transcripts, students are required to provide documentation of 12 hours of observation/shadowing in a radiation therapy clinic or department; hours must be completed by the April 1 deadline. The required form to document observation hours, as well as evaluation feedback completed by the clinic/department where the hours were completed, will be available upon submission of the program application.

Completed applications will be reviewed after the enrollment cycle closes on April 1; qualified candidates will be contacted to schedule a required virtual interview with the Radiation Therapy admission committee. Decision letters will be sent to applicants in early May.

The Radiography associate degree is offered in person, with classroom and lab experiences meeting weekdays on our St. Paul campus. In-person clinical rotation sites are located across the Twin Cities metro area.

Students are admitted to the University on a pre-Radiography track to begin prerequisite and liberal arts courses in the fall, spring or summer terms. After enrollment, a separate application is required to be admitted into the Radiography major sequence; students will work with their academic advisor to complete the major application process. Please note that admission as a pre-Radiography student does not guarantee progression into the Radiography major courses.

Due to the high volume of applications for our Radiography program, Spring 2026 is the next available term to enroll as pre-Radiography in order to complete any required prerequisite and liberal arts courses before beginning the cohort sequence. The application for Spring 2026 enrollment is not open at this time; please check back in the coming months for additional information.

After completing all of the application pages, click on the left-side link for Review to view any incomplete information. After all required information has been added, click the Submit Application button.

If you are interested in taking one or more undergraduate courses without committing to a degree, or if you need to complete specific prerequisite courses in preparation for graduate school, .

After your form is submitted, an admission counselor will connect with you to discuss which courses you鈥檙e interested in 鈥 they can help you determine whether the courses are available in our College for Adults or College for Women, when the courses may be offered in a future term, and what the application process will be. Please note:

  • some undergraduate courses may not be open for non-degree enrollment
  • non-degree students pay the same tuition rate as degree-seeking students, and earn college-level credit
  • non-degree enrollment is not eligible for financial aid*

*individuals completing prerequisite courses for a graduate program may be eligible for financial aid, depending on the number of credits being completed within a 12-month period. Please consult with an admission counselor for more information.

If you wish to change your status to undergraduate degree-seeking after starting classes, you must complete the official application procedures through the College for Adults admission office. Admission as a non-degree-seeking student does not guarantee admission as a degree-seeking student.

Non-degree and Prerequisite students do not use the standard College for Adults application form. After you have connected with an admission counselor and are ready to apply for admission, a separate application form link will be provided for you.

The Social Work bachelor鈥檚 degree program is open to all students; no previous coursework or credential is required.

The Social Work program is offered in a fully online format. For women interested in a daytime, campus-based program (or for international women seeking F-1/visa-eligible enrollment) please review the Social Work program in our College for Women.
