Balancing the Scales: Progress Amid Challenges
Every year, 亚色影库's School of Business produces the Minnesota Census on Women in Corporate Leadership, a research study that examines the representation of women on boards of directors and as executive officers in Minnesota's largest publicly held companies. In the 2024 Census, both women鈥檚 representation on boards and in executive officer roles inched forward ever so slightly, downshifting to a rate of progress not seen in eight years. Researchers throughout the country have noted a similar slowdown and attribute it to the anti-DEI climate, which has gained traction over the last year. Fortunately, this year鈥檚 Census report offers a few actionable insights extracted from focus groups and surveys fielded for the first time as part of the Census data collection. Join Diane Fittipaldi, recently retired associate professor of Business Administration, and Anupama Pasricha, Dean, School of Business, for a discussion on the 2024 census.

Alumni from all class years are invited back to campus for a special Evening With St. Kate鈥檚 celebrating the retirement of President ReBecca Koenig Roloff 鈥76. The program will feature parting reflections from Becky on her St. Kate鈥檚 presidency and alumni celebration of her leadership

From Internment to the College Gates: Japanese_American Students at St. Kate's, 1943-1953
Presented by Amy Shaw, Head of Archives and Special Collections, 亚色影库 Library

During World War II, 120,000 Japanese Americans 鈥 two-thirds of them American citizens 鈥 were detained in internment camps by the U. S. War Relocation Authority. 亚色影库 4,000 of these prisoners were granted early release from the camps to attend colleges in the Midwest and further east.  This is the story of 25 of these students who came to St. Kate鈥檚 during the war and its aftermath.  Encouraged by the Sisters of St. Joseph, these young women worked with enthusiasm and resolve toward baccalaureate degrees, nursing credentials, and teaching certificates.  Drawing on archival research, oral histories, and other resources, Amy Shaw has traced many of these students from their original homes on the West Coast, to the camps, to St. Kate鈥檚, and beyond.

We are in a period of re-imagining our workspaces, contemplating work with purpose and revisiting career choices. Conversations on the 鈥済reat resignation鈥 and 鈥渜uiet quitting鈥 are causing us to reflect on the silent battle of choice versus responsibility. Choosing to let go of a career, or a professional identity, especially after we have invested years building it, can be difficult. This online workshop will provide tips to help you develop awareness about when it may be time for a change and tools to help you explore a career transition or exit. Hosted by Monica (Dillon) Huntsberry 鈥88, content curator and host for RevelEleven.

Women are a driving force in the economy 鈥 gaining ground with men on earnings, achieving higher rates of post-baccalaureate degrees, and opening businesses at an exciting rate. However, many women still lack an important part of financial wellness: confidence. In this workshop, we will identify common money perspectives and how to flip them, share tips for being proactive with your finances, and learn strategies to reduce debt and build assets to build money management confidence. Hosted by Shannon Doyle '97 from LSS Financial Counseling - a program of Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota.
